There’s no test that can measure how sexually healthy you are. Sexual health relies on physical conditional of your body and emotional state of your mind. Keeping the body healthy means investing into sexual well being.
Everyday life influences sexual life. Therefore more attention should be paid to your everyday routine.
Lifestyle
You can do a lot to ensure successful sexual relationships. First of all it’s time to give up bad habits:
Quit smoking. Cigarettes contain nicotine that lowers sperm count. A lot of miscarriages happen between couples where at least one of the partners smokes.
Avoid drugs. Drugs damage your health severely. Marijuana, cocaine, etc decrease the amount of sperms produced by the testicles and may cause formation of abnormal sperms.
Reduce consumption of alcohol. Alcohol addicts often face problems in social life that are caused by inability of reproductive system to function in a proper way.
Drink and eat only contaminant-free products. Our environment is greatly contaminated and it’s crucial to keep away from dangerous chemicals and toxins.
Be sure that you are properly fed. The amount of food does not guarantee the quality. You may binge huge amounts of food but be still undernourished as you do not get enough nutrients.
Other useful advice may be:
- Do not overwork! Do not overdo with exercises! When the body undergoes intense exertion the heat gathers around the testicles and reduces the productivity of the reproductive system.
- Consume enough Vitamin C. Lack of vitamin C makes the sperms stick together.
- Abstain from sex for several days from time to time. Thus the volume of sperms will increase and the potency will be improved. But no more than six days! In a week too many old sperms with decreased mobility will be accumulated.
- Do not wear tight shorts and pants. The scrotum produces sperms more effectively when the temperature is low.
Diet
Dieting, balanced nutritional is essential to keep your body healthy. All kinds of vitamins and minerals should be supplied to the body in order to ensure its functioning.
Water is considered to be the most important substance as our body is 70 per cent water. Without water blood circulation and transportation of nutrients is impossible. Water nourishes the body and eliminates processed substances therefore detoxication of the organisms completely relies on the amount of water you drink daily.
Other substances that are essential to the body are:
Vitamin B1 (can be found in beans, peas, lentils, raw nuts, yogurt, brown rice, whole grain flour, pork) , Niacin ( Brewer's yeast, peanuts, beetroot, swordfish, salmon, tuna, pork ), Vitamin B6 (Sunflower seeds, lentils, bananas, carrots, avocados, eggs tuna, shrimp ), Folic acid (Chick peas, lentils, green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, cheese, tuna, salmon ), Vitamin C ( Citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes ), Vitamin E (Raw nuts, seeds, wheat germ, spinach, egg yolks, oils), Beta carotene (Fruits and vegetables which are yellow and red in color), Zinc (Beans, peas, lentils, sunflower seeds, spinach, pumpkin, molasses, oysters, turkey, beef, pork ), Selenium (Brewer's yeast, whole grains ).
Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine should be replaced by other nutrients more suitable for those who are trying to maintain sexual health. They affect the reproduction or sperms and may damage the development of the sperms severely.
While undergoing a treatment course a person may face side effect of prescribed medications. Consult your doctor and ask him to change the prescription if you feel discomfort.
Sugar, preservatives, genetically modified food won’t do anything good for you.
Fitness
It’s time for realization of your prolonged determinations to keep fit, to go jogging, to exercise on a regular basis and whatever else you can invent! If removal of fat deposits, pumped muscles, increased stamina hasn’t been attractive to you before, you may achieve all this now when you have decided to improve you sexual activity.
It’s not much more difficult to start than to continue keeping fit. Habituation arises very soon after beginning and you will simply not be able to live without exercising.
But too active beginning may kill all your desire to continue. Start with several minutes per day and they exercise more to give your body some time to become accustomed to daily exercises.
There are other ways beside severe exercises that will help you to keep fit: drinking a lot of water, walking, avoiding salt and fried food, resorting to fruits and vegetables, eating breakfast everyday, doing several sit-ups in the morning…
Contraception
Sex gives many people pleasure, provides a good mood and stimulates activity. But undesirable circumstances can cross out all the good points of sex. Unwanted pregnancy can be avoided with the help of various forms of contraception.
Some people prefer abstinence from sex (refusal to have sex). But abstinence bans only vaginal intercourses while sexual contact is still available.
Condoms are the most popular form of contraception that people resort to. Easy to use, available almost everywhere and successful condoms will secure you relationships.
Ovulation method: the cervical mucous is necessary for the sperms to move. But the cervical mucous is produced only near ovulation that takes about a week. All other days (the week before and after the menstruation) are safe for sex.
Birth control pills contain female hormones that influence the uterus in such a way that an egg can’t be implanted.
The morning-after pills are taken in case of emergency after the sexual intercourse. Ordinary birth control pills and other means of contraception are less harmful to health but if they didn’t work or wasn’t used at all the morning-after pills are taken. They are a high-dose combination of estrogen and progestin (female hormones).
Vaginal spermicides are handy to use as it’s a gel that kills the sperms in the vagina.
A method that does not involve any chemical or artificial devices is withdrawal. A man withdraws the penis from the vagina before the ejaculation. But a certain per cent of sperms can still get into the vagina if the penis is withdrawn too late.
Sexually transmitted infections and their symptoms:
Doctors all over the world beat an alarm about sexually transmitted infections (or venereal diseases). Venereal diseases are spread only by sexual contact but the rate of their spreading is so high that they have become one of the leading problems of modern society.
To stop venereal disease it’s crucial to abstain from sex immediately after symptoms of a disease have been noticed. It’s highly recommended to consult the doctor if you have any doubts and suspect a disease. The sooner the treatment course is undertaken the more chances you have to cure the disease successfully.
If you notice any of the following changes to your body and reproductive system, consult the doctor immediately:
- Painful urination
- Dark Yellow Urine
- Cloudy urine
- Abnormal discharge from the penis
- Itching, tingling, pain, or burning of the genitals
- Sores, lumps, blisters, rashes, or warts on / around the genitals
- Crusting at the tip of the penis
- Epididymitis (pain, swelling/ tenderness in the scrotum)
- Prostatitis (deep pelvic ache)
- Fever
